Diaper Dawgs were invented by a US mum who was just getting started with cloth nappies when she came across a problem she just couldn’t “handle” anymore. When catching a glimpse of a silicone kitchen mitt hanging on the oven door, She imagined something just the same but small enough to fit her fingers only and quickly grab those icky inserts. At that moment, Diaper Dawgs were conceived.
So what are “Diaper Dawgs” exactly?
Every mum has her favourite brands of cloth nappies in her stash. If her favourites happen to be pocket-style or all-in-two diapers, Diaper Dawgs can help a new or seasoned mum cope with one of the biggest challenges of cloth nappies…CLEANING!
These types of nappies involve either a sewn-in pocket or poppers that attach absorbent inserts with the waterproof cover that hold them, and according to most manufacturer’s instructions, soiled cloth nappy inserts must be separated from the covers before washing.
However the drawback with these two-piece cloth nappies involve the necessary task of using fingers to remove wet or soiled inserts prior to laundering – and as any cloth nappy mom knows, that can get really icky!
Diaper Dawgs make cloth diapering…
• more sanitary when handling soiled cloth nappy inserts by reducing direct contact with fecal matter that can find a hiding place under fingernails
• quicker to launder by allowing mom to reach in confidently and firmly to fetch soiled inserts from cloth nappy covers and avoid playing the “fingertips-only” or “shake-my-cover-till-it-falls-out” time-wasting games
• more eco-friendly by eliminating the use of excess paper and disposable plastic bags that mum used when scraping soiled inserts
• more enjoyable with fun-sized dogs, sold in colourful companion packs, that mum doesn’t have to hide behind closed doors!
Wash with antibacterial soap and warm water. For a deeper cleaning, place Diaper Dawgs into a sterilizer bag filled with the bag manufacturer's suggested amount of water and microwave according to the instructions on the bag. When using the sterilizer bag method, please assign a sterilizer bag strictly for your Diaper Dawgs' exclusive use.
Do not sterilize Diaper Dawgs with any other materials such as bottle parts, pacifiers, or other accessories, as doing so may encourage cross-contamination. Between washes or sterilization, it is recommended to spray a disinfectant spray into the mouths of your Dawgs and let dry.
Slip a Diaper Dawg onto each hand. Open the jaw, grasp the soiled insert from the nappy pocket or snap, close the jaw, and pull to separate.
Diaper Dawgs can also help wring out nappies, sort through dirty nappies, or hold nappies during spraying. They are able to be stacked and stored upright on any level surface or hanging from any thin-walled object.
